The Good Bad and Ugly of Tantra Yoga

The more you learn about any kind of Yoga, the more there is to know. A wise teacher once said, Every day I wake up to find out I know less than I did the day before. This is even more true of Tantra Yoga - about which there is much misinformation and distortion of truth. The history of Tantra Yoga is long and a bit of a mystery as it migrated throughout Asia. The methodology of Tantra Yoga is too complex for a mere generalization.

Tantra Yoga is a vast subject that cannot be practiced to its full potential by reading books. Tantra Yoga does require formal guidance from a Tantra Yoga teacher. There are a few myths about Tantra Yoga, which are false or partial truths. Below I will cover a few of them.

Ritualized sex is not a common practice within Tantra Yoga schools. Most Tantra Yoga practitioners follow the Dakshinachara path, which is often called, The right-handed path, within western culture. This is a deeply spiritual form of Yoga where deities, such as Shiva, are worshipped. Tantra Yoga is an integration of Bhakti Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Mantra Yoga, and Yantra Yoga. The Tantric who follows the Dakshinachara path is usually a good example of tolerance and lives a constructive life.

The Tantric who follows the Vamachara path, which is sometimes referred to as, The left-handed path, is the Tantra Yoga practitioner who participates in sex rituals, drinks alcohol, consumes other intoxicants, eats meat, and sacrifices animals.

Keep in mind, this is the minority, but most of the contemporary Tantra Yogis and Yoginis, who follow the Vamachara path, are practicing a form of New Age Tantra Yoga, without any direction or guidance from a Guru. They blindly search for a higher spiritual plane of existence, by trying their best to incorporate magic and witchcraft into this blend of New Age Tantra Yoga, without a Yoga teacher.

Is this New Age Tantra really Tantra Yoga? This is a subject for debate, but most of those that follow the Vamachara path, with a lineage, are not going public. On the other hand, the New Age Tantra Yogis and Yoginis, who post their pictures up on the Internet, in pursuit of many different sex partners, are doing their best to go public.

A Tantra Yoga teacher is not usually a sex therapist. If a person, or a couple, is experiencing sexual problems, or difficulties, due to trauma, infidelity, levels of sexual interest in each other that person, or couple, should seek professional help with a qualified sex therapist. It only makes sense that you get counseling from the most professional source.

A sex therapist is not usually a Tantra Yoga teacher. This is just another way to market and re-package sex therapy. If you happen upon a sex therapist, who also claims to be a Tantra Yoga teacher, do a little research first, and you may find the deeper truth about marketing.

Finally, most Orthodox Hindus do not look favorably upon the Vamachara path. For religious fundamentalists, who are not Hindus, the Vamachara path of Tantra Yoga is the smoking gun of Yoga, but ironically they point the finger of suspicion toward Hatha Yoga (union by physical mastery) because of its global popularity.

Tantric Yoga in the Mountains of New Mexico

In a grassy meadow at the 7500-foot elevation in the Jemez mountains of northern New Mexico, a thousand young Americans (most of them between the ages of 20 and 25) gathered for ten days of spiritual exercises at the time of the summer solstice in June, 1973. They arise at four a.m. every day and assemble before sunrise (wrapped in blankets against the morning frost) to sit on the ground in rows in front of an outdoor stage. Together, they begin the day with a mantra in Punjabi (a Sanskritic language) in order to une in to the spiritual practices that are to follow.

First there are several hours of kundalini yoga a series of strenuous physical exercises, chanting, and meditation aimed at acquiring conscious control of body and mind processes and preparing one for God realization. Then there is the ceremony of the raising of two flags: the American flag and the flag of the Aquarian nation this ation being the peaceful people of the Aquarian Age or millenium for which this cult is preparing accompanied by the singing of God Bless America and a prayer for the American nation. After a vegetarian meal (typical of almost all the new cults) and lectures on spiritual and practical subjects, all prepare for a long session of tantric yoga.

Tantric yoga has been little heard of and almost never practiced in the West up to now. All authorities agree that it is an extremely dangerous exercise, practiced always by male and female together, that evokes a very powerful psychic energy, requiring close supervision and control. Supposedly, there is only one master of tantric yoga living on the earth at any one time; the exercises at Solstice in New Mexico were led by the Great Tantric of our days, Yogi Bhajan.

All, dressed identically in white, sit down in long, straight lines, men opposite women, packed shoulder-to-shoulder down the lines and back-to-back with the next line. About ten double lines stretch out from the stage, each 75 feet long; assistants make sure the lines are perfectly straight to assure the proper flow of the yogi magnetic field.

The chanting of mantras begins, with special chants invoking a departed guru who is Yogi Bhajan's special protector. The Yogi himself, an impressive man six feet four inches tall with a great black beard, dressed in white robe and turban appears and begins to speak of his dream for a new beautiful creative nation of America which can be built by the spiritual preparation of people today; the tantric exercises, which are a key in this preparation, transform people from their usual individual consciousness to group consciousness and finally to universal consciousness.

The exercises begin. They are extremely difficult, involving strong physical effort and pain and evoking strong emotions of fear, anger, love, etc. Everyone must do exactly the same thing at the same time; difficult positions are held motionlessly for long periods; complicated mantras and exercises must be executed in precise coordination with one's partner and with everyone in one's own row; each separate exercise may take from 31 to 61 minutes. Individual awareness disappears in the intense group activity, and strong after-effects are felt physical exhaustion and sometimes temporary paralysis, emotional exhaustion or elation. Further, since no one at Solstice is allowed to converse with anyone else, there is no opportunity to make rational sense of the experience by sharing it with others; the aim is to effect a radical change in oneself.

Following afternoon classes in such subjects as Oriental arts of self-defense, practical medicine and nutrition, and the running of an ashram, there is an evening session (after another meal) of spiritual singing: Sanskrit mantras are sung to current folk and ock music, ock festival and joyful worship in a foreign tongue are joined together part of Yogi Bhajan's effort to make his religion ative American.

The religion described above is a modern adaptation of the Sikh religion of northern India, joined to several practices of yoga. Called the 3HO (Healthy Happy-Holy Organization), it was founded in 1969 in Los Angeles by Yogi Bhajan, who originally came to America to take up a teaching position and only incidentally became a religious leader when he discovered that his courses in yoga appealed to the hippies of southern California. Combining the spiritual search of the hippies with his own knowledge of Indian religions, he formed an American religion that differs from most Eastern religions by its emphasis on a this-worldly practical life (like the Sikhs in India, who are mostly a merchant class); marriage and a stable home life, responsible employment, and social service are required of all members.

Since its foundation in 1969, 3HO has expanded to over 100 ashrams (communities which serve as gathering-places for non-resident participants) in American cities, as well as a few in Europe and Japan. Although externally it is quite distinct from the other new Eastern cults (full members of the cult formally become Sikhs and thereafter wear the characteristic Sikh turban and white clothing), 3HO is one with them in appealing to ex-hippies, making an expanded (or universal or ranscendental) consciousness its central aim, and in seeing itself as a spiritual avant-garde that will bring about a new millenial age (which most groups see in astrological terms as the Aquarian Age).

As a cult that advocates a relatively normal life in society, 3HO is still just as much a sign of the times as the Hindu cults that promote an obvious escapism; it is preparing for a healthy, happy and holy America totally without reference to Christ. When convinced and happy Americans speak calmly about God and their religious duties without mention of Christ, one can no longer doubt that the post Christian age has come in earnest.

Yoga Exercises - Yoga Music The Call Of The Forest V Swan Lake

Have you never questioned yourself why you are not one of the millions of people worldwide practising Yoga. People in that many numbers don`t get it wrong in choice of exercise on how to keep fit and healthy.Research behind Yoga exercise has proven to many disbelievers that it is very affective on infected body departments like the mind - joints and muscles.Yoga exercises practised under the guidance of an expert is the best route to take on your first introduction. Instructors can show you the best techniques on how to combat stress and stiffness of the joints.Yoga moves and poses encourage the muscles to become fully toned up while at the same time going to work relaxing the nervous system. The power of Yoga should never be underestimated.Body organs are not ignored. Yoga exercises see to the body organs in the way of a rub down similar to that of a massage where it acts as a detoxifier to help rid waste toxin build up in the body. What does yoga involve is a common question asked by newcomers, well the answer to that is yoga gives you control over two things - one is your breathing and the other is the physical exercise which helps improve strength and flexibility.Music to be played in the background of a yoga class will be picked accordingly to create an atmosphere for what ever exercise is taking place.

Orchestral tunes set the scene for a serene and mellow feel. Meditation music will relate to comforting sounds - sounds such as the call of the forest, whistling birds and wind chimes. Concentration is very important when in the sedate calm world of meditation - so therefore the music has to be suitable. For Example the famous ballet swan lake would never of had the same affect if those graceful moves were performed to the tune of I`m a Yankee Doodle dandy.Invigorating noises that please the mind can help improve yoga exercise. The word Yoga is like music to some people`s ears due to the fact that they get to keep in shape while increasing lubrication of the ligaments, tendons and joints.Health matters are behind many a person`s involvement with yoga because of its amazing results, helping to ease pain and pressure. Why not make the most healthiest decision in your life and let others ask themselves why they are not part of the now million and ONE people doing yoga.

Yoga Exercises - Healthy Lifeline With The Yoga Experience

No debate can arise from Yoga Exercises or is questionable on just how powerful yoga can be. Yoga has proven to give beneficial rewards to millions of people in helping them to keep in shape while at the same time assisting them to lead a healthy lifestyle. Your health and yoga is a match made in heaven. Yoga Exercises and the people who practice regular routines are finding it easier to cope with stress on top of easing body aches and pains.Times have changed dramatically from the days of yesterday - in the days gone by life was a struggle for families - but some how they coped with the illnesses that plagued and terrorised their well being. In those days you never seen a jogger a treadmill or come to think of it any form of exercise like yoga. The only thing that the modern world has in common from the days of the notorious Jack the ripper is the plague. Citizens today are plagued by stress brought on by pressure from work commitments to running the home and much more. Why do we put up with the torment of coping like the people of yesterday who were a lot less fortunate than ourselves - where their options to help reduce any health risks were zilch?Yes changes have dramatically altered but in our best interest where health matters is a major concern.Yoga Exercises do go back to ancient times but why did so many poor unfortunate urchins die from cholera etc while trying to pick a pocket or two. The answer to that is there was no awareness programme administered on how to stay healthy and fit. (Which may have helped save lives?) Could this be the reason why so many children have been introduced to Yoga Exercises by their parents in the 21st century?

Yoga exercises for children start with simple and easy moves - yoga moves and poses for kids are normally named after animals to make it more fun as well as interesting. For example the butterfly pose is very popular among the children - this exercise includes where the child will sit with their knees bent leaning down towards the floor and the soles of the feet slightly touching. Parents are becoming more involved with health maintenance procedures in keeping their children fit and healthy.By enlisting your kiddies to join local yoga classes you have just thrown them a lifeline where they will learn more on body awareness. One of the main reasons for introducing a child to the world of yoga is - obesity. Some children take to yoga exercises like a duck to water and pick up quickly on the understanding as to why they are performing such exercises. But then you have those who struggle to come to terms with their exercise and have no idea to what rewards can be gained. What really matters is - as long as the kiddies are enjoying themselves then that is one rewarding result in itself.Later in life when the child is fit and healthy - it is then that you will find the child`s perception of the whole yoga experience will answer their question as to why mummy and daddy did what they did and that was to send them to practice yoga exercises.

Yoga And Sex Kundalini Yoga Favors Sexual Energy For Mental Strength

Kundalini Yoga-- This age old yoga practice is quite wary of other ancient religious practices for gaining elevated spiritual state. While most of the religious practices prefer ascetism and sexual abstinence as a way to uplift soul, Kundalini yoga considers carnal indulgence as a medium to increase self exploration. This practice of yoga lays great emphasis on leading a healthy sexual life.Kundalini yoga suggests to “feel sex” instead of “merely performing sex.” According to this Yogic philosophy there could no better way to mutual exploration process than act of copulation. This yoga vehemently condemns the widespread connotation that sex is an impediment in attaining higher state of being.Kundalini yoga practice is basically termed as fiery practice as it requires you to be very active. It doesn't help you in gaining increased level of sexual prowess but also contributes to your worldly success by providing you with required mental peace and energy. The concept of kundalini says that spinal sexual energy is potent enough to offer great mental strength and wisdom. The energy associated with kundalini concept is said to be of most powerful kind that flows in an energy canal inside the body that is known as Shushumna. Along with it there exists an additional canal in men and women. In women this additional channel of energy is termed as “Pingala” while men possess “Ida” canal of energy. The kudalini suggests male and his female partner to first attain equal level of energy before going for copulation.

For that they are first directed to get indulged in various tantric yoga meditations and asanas that help them attain complete rejuvenation as well as higher level of being. And energy gained after undergoing these Tantric Yoga practices happens to be unmatchable. Equipped with incredible energy and elevated physical and mental state a couple could experience optimum sexual pleasure and mutual exploration. The hallmark of kundalini Yoga lies in its philosophy of strong connection between carnal indulgence and spirituality. But many people find it too difficult to get accustomed with refraining from orgasm that is not a preferred kundalini practice. According to the concept avoiding orgasm could result in increased level of kundalini energy in the body.Kundalini's way of masturbation results in great physical and mental relaxation. Like other yoga forms kundalini is also gaining world wide popularity. You can also opt for kundalini for above mentioned advantages, but I would suggest you to take up kundalini practices in consultation with an expert tantra yogi only.

Tantric Yoga Positions

The ancestry of the classic Tantra started as early as the Indus Valley civilization. The principal goal is to integrate or unify the male and female perspectives within an individual in order to attain artistic thinking and spiritual conversion. According to the beliefs back then, one way to accomplish that aim is by doing the Tantric Yoga Positions.By "Tantra", we mean expansion, while "Yoga" is concentration. Thus, the Tantric yoga positions pertain to directing and increasing a person's energy in order to carry out the goals of tantra. The act is more than just a training or an ordinary workout; it is also a principle of life. The practice can be found on different beliefs and ideas, such as Jainism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and even the New Age Movement.Tantric yoga positions and the practice itself also consider our universe as an expression of either the Cosmic Mother (Shakti), the Spirit, or even the life force, depending on what faith or religion they based it on. Frankly, it is not easy to become an expert on these because it cannot simply be understood through reading books. A yogi who wants to go through this practice must be fully-dedicated to the guru in order to win it out. This is how typical tantric yoga positions and courses go: With a mind free from obscene or unclean ideas and yearnings, the guru just sits peacefully. The student, on the other hand, assembles his or her own life force with the use of perception and cognition.

Then it moves up from the tail bone to the neck, and through the spine, and until it reaches the yogi's forehead. The accumulated results will then eventually be disposed from the forehead to create a frame of light and energy which will unfold until it becomes the size of a human being. The fictitious frame of light and energy corresponds to the yogi's being and significance. Tantric yoga positions govern love towards it before taking it back to the person's forehead, and back down to the spine. Once the light bounced back inside, the yogi will experience spiritual awakening and enlightenment.Tantric yoga positions and practices are good resolutions to get away from unfavorable habits like drinking and smoking. Indeed, it is a good way to maintain a good health and live a clean life. Only that, the yogi must have full certainty, purity, boldness, and commitment to the guru.

Tantric Yoga Combines The Elements Of Mind, Body And Spirit

Most of the different types of yoga will combine the physical, mental and spiritual elements of the body in one way or another, with the ultimate goal being a renewed awareness of the body and an overall greater health and fitness level. Tantric yoga takes this process to a whole new level, by focusing on the spiritual health of the body through additional meditation and lifestyle choices. Tantric yoga can include a number of different sciences, including astrology, physics, chemistry, psychology and mathematics to bring about a greater enlightenment to enhance your everyday life.Increased Consciousness on Many LevelsTantric yoga will focus on consciousness at many different levels to realize a person’s being in a whole new, supreme way. It begins with a session of meditation to purify the mind, and will include the visualization of love and devotion being directed to a central body of light, which is your soul. The ultimate goal of tantric yoga is to renew your mind and spirit through a profound spiritual awakening that comes through these meditation sessions. It is thought to be the transferring of energy to higher levels, for maximum spiritual growth and whole body wellness. One of the elements of tantric yoga that is extremely important is the cessation of bad habits like overeating, smoking and excessive drinking. All of these behaviors are damaging and destructive to your physical body, making it important for you to stop them as you are striving for ultimate spiritual and physical renewal. There are methods involved in tantric yoga that will allow you to increase your consciousness and give up some of these bad habits that you have hung onto up to this point.

Increased Popularity in the United StatesWhile tantric yoga has been quite popular in eastern cultures, it has grown in popularity within the United States as well. For those that are hungry for a spiritual workout as well as a physical one, tantric yoga can offer many far-reaching benefits. In addition to many of the other physical benefits of other types of yoga, tantric yoga can increase sexual function and stamina. It has also been shown to improve the function of the prostate in many men who practice this type of yoga regularly. If you are considering a type of yoga, and are looking for more than simply your basic workout, tantric yoga might offer just what you are searching for. Not only will you receive physical and mental benefits as you would with other types of yoga, you may enjoy a spiritual awakening as well.

Tantra Yoga, Tantric Sex, or Viagra

Here’s a natural Yoga solution for a “pill popping culture” that does not take side-effects seriously, until they feel them, or worse. Male impotency has become a marketing Bonanza. Pharmaceutical companies are cashing in on middle-aged males. Even if you are not a male who is middle-aged, or older, your Spam folder is most likely full of “junk advertisements” for Viagra, Cialis, or Levitra. This means there is a huge market of middle-aged men who could use a copy of the Kama Sutra and should learn some natural solutions from a qualified Tantra Yoga teacher. Tantra Yoga does not have a long list of side-effects, so there is much less, if any, risk. This might be expecting too much because this is pro-active behavior for better health. Some men are taking these drugs and they do not even need to; it has become a strange “fashion statement.” What usually happens is a quick solution is mentioned by a Viagra commercial during a football game. Ever notice the simplest solutions are not really in the form of a pill? Half of the time consumed, in a typical Viagra commercial, is spent talking about the side-effects of taking the drug. The same can be said for Viagra’s cousins: Levitra and Cialis. What the commercial visually shows is romance, and advertising firms have male behavior down to a science. Men are not listening to “common side-effect” warnings about headaches, blurred vision, bluish vision, upset stomach, facial flushing, or reactions to light. Keep in mind; these are only the common side effects of these drugs. There are a number of uncommon side effects - if you happen to be one of the unlucky ones. Now, let’s get back to Tantra Yoga, a natural solution, which does not have any adverse side-effects. I admit it: Men do not listen very well. This is not “selective hearing;” we do not listen to other men very well either. You can get a man to pay attention to a copy of the Kama Sutra though.

Since most Yoga teachers and students, outside of India, are women, I am addressing Yoginis who know the value of their Yoga practice. You might consider giving the Kama Sutra to your “significant other” as a gift. The Kama Sutra has 36 chapters and 64 sex positions, so it will not be a short and quick read. Not everything in the Kama Sutra is for everyone, but there is enough material to keep you both interested for a lifetime. Therefore, the long-term solution is not in a pill.Learning about Tantra Yoga, and Tantric sex, will improve male sexual health at any age. Middle-aged couples can improve their own relationship, on many planes, with the help of Tantra Yoga and Tantric Sex. This is a significant point, when you look around at soaring divorce rates.Lastly, a copy of the Kama Sutra is very affordable, and it could be the best investment you make in a relationship. Who knows - this may even get more men interested in Hatha Yoga practice.

Tantra Yoga The Adrenals and the Ego

Tantra yoga exercises and lifestyle help us release our addictions to actions and substances that stimulate the adrenal glands to produce excessive hormones, and subsequently, restore harmony within our egos. The adrenals, grape-sized endocrine glands that sit on top of the kidneys, allow our bodies to deal with stress of all types through the fight or flight response, and keep as much homeostasis as possible. Anti-inflammatory hormones such as cortisol also help sustain energy. However, too much stress causes cortisol to break down the body tissues, adding fat, and causing organ and muscle weakness. The adrenals are unable to produce enough DHEA, the precursor to estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. Adrenals produce around 50 hormones, so we need to treat them kindly. The modern lifestyle of chasing stimulation for recreation such as all night computer games such as World of Warcraft, use of cocaine and other drugs, cigarettes, caffeine, drama, sugar, horror movies, thrill seeking risky activities and a sexual overdrive give the adrenals a jolt. But they quickly become depleted and need another jolt to regain their stasis, or fatigue, depression, confusion, and aches ensue and we get a hankering for more of what caused the excess adrenalin production and subsequent depletion to begin with. Very quickly, we become addicted to that yoyo syndrome unless we take time to rest and let the adrenals recover, giving them plenty of nutritional support such as licorice root, royal jelly, and herbal combinations easily found at health food stores. Most often, we are too impatient with the renewing process, feel we can't take time out, or don't want to tolerate the low energy level, or we feel we need to perform at our peak to meet deadlines. Often we will even wait until the night before a deadline, saying we work best under pressure, as that stimulates the panic response of the adrenals.

Soon, we have lost time, energy, well-being, and focus for our entire future because of not taking a few days to recuperate. Sometimes this happens so early in our lives, we hardly have a chance. We see it as our personality to be driven, to need more and more big wins, excitement, ego boosting, and can even find ourselves drawn into situations involving arrest or STDs because the thrill of the moment seems more important than the poise of reason. We can beat ourselves up, thinking it's our personality, when that pattern may have been artificially created by some event in the past that we may not have even had any control over, such as being overworked in school, staying up late to write papers, drinking coffee. Our very desire to succeed may have thrown us into the pit of failure. The addiction to the ups and downs of the adrenalin glands may cause a downward spiral of increasingly dangerous, excessive behaviors. Some people may rationalize the thrill of stealing from chain stores as activism, or riding their motorcycles too fast as being a rebel. People may see their need to go out at 3 in the morning and do cocaine and cruise for prostitutes as being a natural human need. They may attract people who treat them terribly in order to bring out rage, which gets the adrenals going big time. Some may start using more substances, such as sugar, or alcohol, which add to the addiction by promoting overgrowth of Candida in the system. Candida, a yeast/fungus triggers the desire for more sugar and fermented foods to feed itself, compounding the adrenal's issues, making the blood sugar go wild.Eventually, adrenal fatigue occurs, causing muscle weakness and shaking, sleep disorders, low blood pressure and blood sugar, allergies, immune system insufficiency, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, hypothyroidism, Fibromyalgia, bloating, irritation, and the inability to keep a job or even get out of bed. This stage certainly makes doing Tantric exercises difficult, as the body feels the need to conserve energy. Doing the exercises before the adrenals become exhausted is highly recommended. The exercises can aid in keeping the adrenals from becoming depleted, and can turn everything around to an upswing of health and consistent, generally positive moods, fitness, and renewal of spiritual peace.Tantric exercises are dramatic, moving energy through the body, creating a sense of bliss and euphoria. People seeking something to lift them out of the blues can find a new expanded perspective through the exercises and get the jolt of pleasure they are looking for in a more wholesome and ultimately gratifying way. Rather than keeping the cycle of craving going, it actually satisfies it. Doing Tantric exercises is a natural high, even more than other forms of yoga. Though Tantra has become associated with sex through sensationalism recently, the exercises don't need to be related to sex. Tantric exercises can be done any time, and don't need a partner, or arousal, or privacy. Even just sitting on a bus, or walking down the street, a person can be silently doing some simple exercises. Relating with others at the expanded level, or doing creative projects while keeping the cosmic theta-brain wave frequency going allows the experience to continue and not just be a momentary thing. This is what I call Lucid Play. Learning to have a continuity of consciousness, remaining aware of the real Self beyond just the brevity of meditation allows integration of all the brain wave levels, from the ordinary, to the deepest, and it can become a lifestyle. People with adrenal issues need something that can allow them to stay excited enough about life all the time, and this is an excellent way to do that. The Tantric lifestyle includes a great diet that promotes a steady energy level, with plenty of nourishment from fresh, vegetables, nuts, and other simple foods, and can be adjusted to body type with specific spices recommended in the Ayurvedic guidelines. Avoiding chemicals in household and personal products, getting fresh air and sunshine, having time away from electromagnetic pollution, being grateful to everything around you, and meditating on a regular schedule are all helpful. The exercises include breathwork (pranayama), mantras (toning), movements and poses (asanas), ethical good deeds (yama and niyama) and more. These sorts of activities help pull the body out of the modern lifestyle of sympathetic nervous system dominance, and moves it into experiencing the parasympathetic nervous system dominance at appropriate times. The perspective of that dominance is associated with the astral pathway on the left side of the spine, called the Ida, which related to meditation, intuition, a sense of oneness with the continuum, and lower brain wave frequencies such as Alpha. If we don't give ourselves enough parasympathetic nervous system dominance time, we can plummet into a perpetual state of stress, causing adrenal burn out which can only be remedied by several years of highly expensive supplements and treatments administered by naturopaths monitoring every nutrient that is out of balance. The body/mind needs that expanded perspective of the lower brain wave frequencies rather than always staying in the Beta brainwave of the sympathetic nervous system dominance, with its perspective of separateness, competition, linearity, action, and the need for ego stroking, which is more related to the Pingala nadi, the astral pathway found on the right side of the spine. We need to be a mix between the individual and the universal, to have strong boundaries, a sense of self preservation and identity, yet also realize that our selves flow into everything else. If we don't do things like Tantric exercises or Chi Gong, which take us into parasympathetic dominance times, our bodies are forced into artificial parasympathetic dominance, which is seen in Chinese medicine as deficient Kidney Yang. This depletes the sexual energies, the jing, and the adrenals are partly considered to be part of the Kidney meridian. Tantric and Taoist exercises are promoted to keep the Kidney Yang strong and balanced, and that is part of the reason for the avoidance of ejaculation during orgasms. Tantric exercises allow that merging and communication between the individual magnetic pole at the base of the pelvis, at the root chakra, with the crown chakra, which is associated with the higher self, which forms a portal into the universal. The crown chakra is a gateway to experiencing the causal level of the aura, which is always aware of being part of the whole, of being wise and powerful and eternal. The levels of the aura can be inhabited more fully if we aren't slaves to adrenalin, being addicted to eating meat, for example, with adrenalin embedded in it from the surge from the slaughter. If we are continuously distracted by addictions, to shopping, webcams, extreme gossip, cheating on spouses, or whatever, we keep our focus on the levels of the aura closest to the body, more related to the ego, which can feel intense separation from the larger levels of the aura, leading to a sense of alienation and despair. Life can become superficial, as we lose the ability to be present. The ego, nestled within the sense of identity, then has an agenda because of being separated from the causal body. Remembering and loving our individuality is extremely important. We need to keep our boundaries protected, keep the individual pole of the self magnetically charged as it keeps the flow with the universal pole electric. It actually loses its charge if it is over emphasized (or underemphasized.) If we meditate regularly by doing some practice like Tantra, we can feel the universal energy flowing through the body and back again. We become the energy. It's an intense pulsation, a pleasurable vibration and being one with the urge to create this world, the cosmic light of consciousness, and it is blissful. We know it comes from truth rather than from a fleeting gratification. The adrenals are nourished by this, as the ego can relax while it is being honored, while being merged with the source of its pleasure. If we try to kill the ego, it rebels, draws more and more attention to itself, using adrenalin based methods. We feel more encased in addictions, unresolved to our behavior, not fully in the moment. Helping the lower self, associated with the root chakra, the ego, and the Shakti (manifest world) pole of our being, communicate with the source of its energy, the Shiva (non manifest world) pole at the crown, the higher self, allows it to feel secure. It can then open up again and celebrate itself, through the arts, play, loving relationships, business genius, and so on. Exercises that do this can be accessed through the DVD set, Tantric Lucidity, including titles such as Tantra with the World. The book, Tantric Metaportals, takes the reader into those states immediately through concepts, exercises, and art. Many ancient Tantric manuscripts are available as well, and Tantra teachers around the world can be helpful, though finding instructors who understand the whole range of what Tantra is can be challenging these days.Doing the exercises regularly creates the ability to call in a change of consciousness that is dramatic and exciting and glorious without having to resort to temporary fixes. We can leave those behind to free ourselves to be able to relax into enjoying the present. Taking supplements for our adrenals at the same time makes the transition MUCH easier. We don't need to fight our craving and impulses so much. Licorice candy isn't helpful, but the root itself can be chewed, or made into a tea, or the extract can be bought. Licorice ingredients resemble the adrenal hormones, and inactivates cortisol in the kidneys so it stays active longer. Avoid if you have high blood pressure. Licorice and sarparilla tea is excellent, as both are roots so can be boiled together for 20 minutes, and both feed the adrenals in different ways. Another root, ginger, can be added to the mix, as it also nourishes the adrenals. Royal jelly is a natural way to get pantothenic acid, which is similar to adrenal hormones, and it restores what is lost in the adrenals. Vitamin C from food sources also helps restore adrenal function. These kinds of natural additions to the diet are very helpful, but once a person hits adrenal exhaustion, he must go an expert for a complete work-up and track regularly every up and down of sodium, potassium, etc. to see exactly what he needs to do to try to repair some of the damage to begin to live again. So, be kind to your ego, your body, your soul, and do Tantric exercises or some other form of parasympathetic nervous system dominance creator, like Chi Gong, or Tai Chi, and take good herbs for your adrenals, so you can release any habits you may have that keep the ego in charge. Rather than keeping your boundaries at the level of the ego, reach out and explore the wider levels of the aura and play in them!

How To Practice Tantric Massage

Tantric massage: if the name if this treatment makes you think of something enjoyable, your thinking is correct. Often, massage is given as a medical treatment, to heal or relieve pain from injured muscles or tendons. Tantric massage, on the other hand, is a sensual massage which is used to increase the romantic bond between two partners. This form of massage has its origins in India, and includes more than just the massaging of the body. Partners must also focus on breathing, visualization and meditation. By combining all of these elements together, both partners become more in touch with each other’s thoughts and feelings, as well as becoming more aware of themselves and their own body. For the ideal tantric massage, partners take turns massaging each other. For the best massage, use oil on the fingertips, either scented or unscented. It is essential that the entire surface of the body receives the massage, in order to make the skin feel relaxed and sensitive to the touch of the other person. Lie on a soft surface and use pillows to make yourself the most comfortable. This form of massage puts the partners in a vulnerable spot, where they must yield to one another’s touch and be willing to be open to each other. Although it may seem like mainly physical contact takes place, tantric massage allows the partners to share intimacy with one another on an emotional level that they may never have experienced before.

If you are self-conscious or have low self-esteem, this experience can help you to learn to appreciate your body. It can also help you to boost the confidence of your partner as you enjoy being close to him or her and helping him or her to feel loved and accepted. Don’t be embarrassed to suggest this form of massage to your partner; it can help to rejuvenate your relationship.

A Brief Guide to Yoga Paths

Yoga has a lot going for it, let's face it. The flexibility of some of those people on those TV yoga lessons is almost obscene. Of course, flexibility can do more for you than merely increase the excitement level in the bedroom. Or in the car. Or in an elevator. Or, well, you get my drift. Aside from the ability to make your partner's jaw drop, yoga is an excellent form of exercise for those with bodily conditions that are resistant to weights or high impact aerobics. Naturally, however, using the term yoga is as misleading as using the term Christian or Muslim to define a monolithic group of people who are assumed to share the same belief. In fact, yoga is nearly as complex an integration of various styles as any organized religion. I use the analogy of religion because yoga does have religious connotations. In fact, and it might even have been in my hometown, I can remember somebody complaining about a yoga class being taught in a public school because it violated the separation of church and school. Even if you don't want to go so far as to think of yoga as an organized religion, in order to get the most from what yoga has to offer it does pay to think of it in terms a philosophical exercise as well as a physical exercise. The key to thinking about yoga in these terms is understanding something called yoga paths. For instance, there is the Kundalini yoga path, which is one of the most ancient of all paths. The Kundalini path stresses things like breathing, meditation and chanting. This is a great path for those who are looking for a low impact type of yoga; there isn't much in the way of movement. In case those words bring to mind Sting and his six hour long Tantric sex marathons, you aren't far off the track. Kundalini and Tantric yoga are very closely related, but Kundalini yoga practioners do quite well without engaging in sex during the course of a Lord of the Rings marathon.

(Although, that might actually make that snorefest worth sitting through, now that I think of it.) All yoga is great at stripping the stress from your life, but the Ananda yoga path may be the best. Ananda means bliss and everyone could use a little bliss, right? While engaging in the Ananda yoga path you are urged to actually mutter quiet words of affirmations of serenity. The key to Ananda lies in creating an overall sense of peace and contentment, and many of those who follow this path can be found stretching to the accompaniment of bells. Iyengar yoga path does not have the history of something like Kundalini, but is becoming very popular. Iyengar is a combination of very ancient methods of yoga and the modern twist of being forced to hold these positions for longer than usual. Kripala yoga asks much the same thing as Iyengar yoga, and is differentiated from other yoga paths in that you don't do quite as many different poses, but you do hold them longer. Before considering Kripala yoga, it would be wise to be brutally honest with yourself when answering the question if you'd prefer to do more poses for a shorter time, or less poses for a longer time. The Bikram yoga path should only be considered by those who've already mastered the basics. Bikram yoga is, I believe, technically considered torture by the Bush administration, so you know it must be a killer. Why? Well, consider that a Bikram yoga workout requires that the temperature be situated between 90 and 105 degrees or, in other words, what my hometown feels like on 350 days out of a year. As if that weren't bad enough, the Bikram yoga workout is one of the most intense of any in any yoga path. The reason for the high heat delivery is that those who came up with this unique form of evil believe that the best qualities of yoga can be achieved only if the muscles involved are in a perfect state of readiness for stretching and this can be assured only in that 15 degree window. All yoga is great at stripping the stress from your life, but the Ananda yoga path may be the best.
